I did, but I admittedly did a subpar job. The experience was rather miserable as well (you can thank bad shoes and the Lorax fandom for that). I still enjoy the show and love the character, but the chances of me cosplaying him again are slim unfortunately.

This shit makes me rage so hard. I feel like it was so easy to just huff about whether a character was gay or not. Now we have all these new pronouns and terms and orientations that just muddles everything. I don't even know what half of them mean.

I'm in both the Hetalia and SnK fandoms and the vast majority of people I encounter are weeaboos with this mentality (mostly in SnK). They start watching the show simply because it's on their dashboard, not because it's a good show or they like the characters. Then they craft their live around it. Their room becomes a shrine to just the one show or even the one character, they cosplay in public, defend their pairings to the death, and claim otherkin so the can BE that character. SnK is all they talk about. It's all they can talk about until the next bandwagon comes along they start to devour it. I think Tokyo Ghoul is slowly becoming infested next.

I get where the feeling of "better" comes from. It's hard when I'm cosplaying France and I say, "so Versailles right" and the other Frances are "so do you fuck England from behind or up against the wall?" The "better" comes from being a decent human being who knows how to talk about other things and not relate everything back to the fandom. It's not so much quality of cosplay as it is quality of behavior.

Why can't people just enjoy a show for the sake of the show?

Why do people NEED for there to be a romantic subplot? Does every single story need to have romance in it? Why can't action and adventure be that? JUST ACTION AND ADVENTURE. Can it, just, not keep their attention if there isn't romance? And why do they always become rabid shippers who'll bite your head clean off your shoulders if you don't feel their pairing, even the most ridiculous crack pairings?

Fucking. Legend of Zelda series on Netflix rumors and I'm over here blabbing about "monsters and dungeons and lore oh my" and everyone else is "OMG there better be lesbians or I'm dropping the series forever!"
