That wig is super cute, but you're missing the choker and brooch as well as the sleeve wing thingies for SuperS version. The skirt is fabulous though!

This was my original post. I don't see anywhere here where I say that I hate the skit and costumes. In fact, I complimented the costumes, and simply noted that the performance was very weak. I didn't know I was supposed to love everything, mah bad yo!

Where did I say they were the perfect choice to go? I'm pretty sure the only thing that I said was the winning team, from my past experience, have great craftsmanship, but their performance wasn't that impressive and that I hope they clean up their performance for the finals. If you interpreted that as my saying that I loved them and they are the perfect choice to go, then.. I dunno what else to say.

It's pretty self-explanatory? I'm willing to clarify anything if it's confusing.

Well, a lot of West Coast people and East Coast people are going to Colossal if that's any indication. I'm coming in from NYC, and that's about an 8-9 hour drive for me.

Well, I run the cosplay dept at Colossal and we encourage everyone to wear a costume cause it's cooooooool. The hotel is AC'd, Ohio in June isn't absolutely sweltering, so if you pack some cool costumes, you'll be fine. A lot of people tend to bring water themed costumes. I forsee a bunch of Free! cosplay this year. There's generally a lot of costumes at this place with the chunk of the big stuff coming out on Saturday for the masq.

I got my reservations at con rate a month before the convention without any issues.

Very chill convention. There's something for everyone. And when all else fails, at least you can chill in the lazy river with your drink chalice.

Everytime I see someone post this, I can't help but chuckle.

I really enjoy some cosplay pages because of the WIP shots people post up. Especially if tutorials are attached. It's also made it a lot easier to reach out to some cosplayers to pick their brains on some of the techniques they used. I've found a lot of cosplayers are willing to share their secrets and it makes it easier to meet people as well, especially cosplayers that I admire!

I think it's because the organization (Japan) is being run like a business now and the US wants to cover their ass.

I wish I could remember, but alas I got kicked out of the private group. But there were statements made about how if we didn't sign it, we wouldn't be protected against legal action. Or whatever that even means? If I get a supeona to appear in court because I'm getting sued for talking about WCS, I'll let you guys know.

>> No.7379189 [View]

>>7379179
Well, that question was brought up and never really addressed as to why. And because that wasn't really addressed in a way that actually made sense, I didn't sign it.

If I had signed it, I wouldn't be allowed to talk about it. If people remember from my year, 2008, the whole purpose of how we wanted to do things was to see if the same issues were happening that affected the 2005 or 2006 team (can't remember which) and we came back with information and shared it with everyone.

WCS wanted us to sign NDAs and Code of Conduct contracts that were worded very strangely and we said no, and now we are not allowed to participate in any WCS-related events as judges/staff as we didn't sign these documents. So that's why a bunch of people dropped out.

Ah, the perks of not having signed an NDA, it's pretty great!

And this is exactly why con photographers who charge are absolutely killing the hobby.

Mugshots are public record. The guy in question is well-known in the Ohio scene and when it gets out that he was arrested, it's to be expected that someone will look up the mugshot to confirm the arrest.

Bamp.

Colossalcon is hands down my favorite, but I may be biased cause I'm on staff, but there's literally SO MUCH TO DO. I only wish it was ran more than once a year and I don't say that about any other con but this one.

Since moving back to NY, I'm working as a in-home family service consultant with at-risk teenagers. I basically go into the homes on an intensive basis, help with teaching families on effective behavioral modifications to assist their at-risk kids from becoming lost in the system. I have a pretty active caseload, but at least I can make my own hours. Only drawback is that I'm salaried, so no OT for me :(

I also just got accepted to grad school for social work, so there's that as well. I foresee what little time I have to be diminished.

People still participate in this? I remember back when everyone was applying how much of a clusterfuck it was.

Points to the newer folks into cosplay that can name all of these cosplayers.
