I'm adding the Garnet Orb (manga version) to my store once I find a bail I like. All I have atm is split rings which don't go well with flat pendants.

There might be a small resurgence once the Tsukihime remake comes out.

>1) Buy (muscle) anatomy/medical/educational zentai suit

This. Don't search for it using AoT terms they sell it cheaper if you just search 'muscle zentai'

Don't give me that shit. I deal with enough of that at work. Besides I said I wasn't that offended. Stop trying to make drama where it doesn't exist.

I'm not really that offended I just want them to see half of the shit real nurses half to do. I picked pressure ulcers because that was the most disgusting thing I came across in my clinicals that I didn't know existed before.

And I know the feel. I have an obese sister that scoffs at my Hungry Girl recipes, diet soda and no carb days saying she prefers "real" food.

And most of my local cosplay friends are faaaaaaaaaaaaat, but I never feel comfortable giving advice because I don't want to be that know-it-all skinny bitch. But then they say shit at the grocery store like "OMG this lemonade says fat-free!"

>> No.6827452 [View]

I love to see how much people love to see how much people butcher "nurse" motifs. I wanna take anyone wearing this shit or those skanky nurse costumes and have then change the dressings on a 94 yer old man with incontinence and 3 unstageable pressure ulcers.

I'm working on some that have clear acrylic arms and hinges that attach with just acrylic cement. No holes needed.

Since Fanime AA confirmations are still rolling in slowly I thought I'd look into AA displays. Can someone do a photodump?

Also where do you guys get the vinyl signs printed? I was gonna laser up a cool sign, but it would probably get too awkward to transport and display compared to a banner.

I'm working on ordering some grey pearl for Pluto's garnet orb since I don't think plain silver mirror is quite the right look for it. In the meantime I'll work on the Starlights brooches and outer wands.

I wasn't planning on getting in the laser cut sailor moon items since I thought the niche was filled. But the more I look the more it seems that the current crafters don't make all the wands. Should I make some Outer Senshi wands?

Vectoring up some soul gems and trying to figure out the popularity of the Mahou Shojous. Teh gold part of each gem is a little different for each girl so I'm trying to estimate how much I should cut of each.

1. Homura
2. Mami (most popular but might not sell as well because the yellow gem doesn't look at cool)
3. Sayaka
4. Madoka
5. Kyoko.

If you're looking for a place to go or a company locally try going to yelp and searching laser cut or laser cutting in your area.

Know Adobe Illustrator or Corel draw and have access to a laser cutter. That's at least what I did. I have no idea how to deal with companies that cut the stuff for you. Owning your own is not really an option unless you have a $5000+ lying around.

I like that bulletin board but it doesn't sound like stuff would be disappearing too easily. Maybe I could make a clear peg-board so I can at least see the stuff?

Also are cell phone charms still viable item? I feel like most smart phones don't come with the charm slot and not a lot of people bother ot get the cases that add them?

Finally getting some sweet League of Legends stuff finished. Hopefully having some stuff from underrepresented but popular fandoms will get me a leg up in apply for AA.

I'm gonna be trying for my first table this year. My stuff is mostly jewelry/pendants and keychains. What kinds of displays do you guys recommend?

In sorta related news I finished my Clow Key necklace. I'm sad I couldn't find gold acrylic as vibrant as KC's. It's still better than that gold mirror stuff imho. And the pearl wing is just gorgeous. I'll have it up in the store later tonight unless you guys think there's something really off about it.

There was a jewelry maker at Ohayocon selling some nice amber and jade stuff. I like that she was there so I could get something for my mom who seems to think she always needs a souvenir from my congoings,

Hey it's me again. I finally got my hands on some great non-mirror gold acrylic. It's a little darker than KC's, but still pretty nice. Looks like the second one in the pic. Need some ideas. I don't want to copy KC's stuff. My only ideas atm are the CCS wand and maybe a golden snitch.

Do you know how much fucking design and computer work went into each of those? Not to mention how many failed attempts they probably had along the way.

Notice that most of those are also a single color and generally small.

I talked to one of my friends who does a lot of major con judging about these newer technologies. Her verdict is that more points will always go to the costume that is clean, sturdy, accurate. It doesn't matter if a sword was hand-wittled from pine or carved from CNC. If the finished sword was whittled from pine and still looks better than the CNC sword then it will get higher marks.

And if you're outside of the cosplay competition realm then who cares? I've made a few props use laser cut wood for my bases and I'm no less proud of them than some of my earlier, jigsaw cut stuff. If fact I'm more proud because I created a cleaner product and didn't waste as much time on a piece I feel could be 1000% better.

It's kinda like handsewing a costume versus machine sewing. You could sew an entire dress my hand, but unless there's hand embroidery or something there's not a lot that makes it different from the machine sewn version of the dress except the machine one will probably have cleaner lines. Maybe the handsewn dress has more sentimental value to you, but that's kinda it.

And I think Ashley has taught us that just because you have certain materials, it doesn't mean you'll use them well.

They can't. It still takes a great deal of programming and theory to make those things work.

I don't use the 3D printer personally but I work aroun a lot of people who do. First of all the texture is all wrong for most cosplay items. Each layer of plastic is set on top of each other like a piece of mica. Hit it the wrong way and it snaps. If you wanted to make it into an armor piece it would still take a great deal of sanding, priming, supporting ot make it even feasbile.

There are 3D printers of a different kind that act more like pepakura machines, but the problem is they can only make blocky pepakura shapes. You're screwed if you wanted a smooth, rounded shoulder pauldron.

As for CNC machines that carve stuff out of wood those still take a lot of knowledge of CAD, designing, switching out drillbits, trial and error and the same amoutn of sanding/painting/priming any other prop would take.

Before anyone here goes on spewing shit about any of these technologies being a shortcut you should know that they still take a lot of skill to use and doesn't just pop out a finished product. It's just another method in the vast arsenal that is prop making.

The Cos-Crammer: Brought 5+ costumes to the con and is going to make sure they get at least a 2 hour photo session in with every single one. Probably has a costume from some obscure show you love and care about, but good luck finding them when they only walk around con in for an hour or so until they change.

The Parent: Accompanying an underaged weaboo usually at a distance of 20 feet their child has set. Ranges from clutching purse/wallet with a look of mild fear/disgust or clicking tons of pictures and talking with cosplayers with genuine interest even though they don't know the stuff. The latter usually receiving the occasional "Mooooooom, quit it you're so lame!" from their child.

Button Battalion: Seriously how many artist alley buttons do you need? Has combined value of $200+ spent to cover their hoodie/hat/messenger bag.
