I definitely agree. There's far, far too many costume elements in Lolita now; Four layers of fake lashes, huge wigs, outfits consisting of only two colours.. Bleh.

I may be entirely alone in this, but SHOES. The Otome aesthetic allows for any and all kinds of shoe so long as it's vaguely consistent or complimentary to the outfit - The world isn't going to fall apart around you if you're not wearing the same damn pastel sandals.
