The logic behind this actually makes sense.

1.This puts a hard stop on room scalpers. You won't be snatching 5 rooms ($900) at booking when you have to pay $4500 upfront and submit names of the people staying in them with the condition that you cant change names on the room.

2. It slows down and discourages the mad rush for rooms right after the con ends.

I can easily see all the host hotels following suit with this strategy next year.

There's nothing anyone can do about it because these rooms will sell out regardless. Hell, they even locked out government per diem rates at the host hotels for next year.

What kind of fabric would be recommended for a thick-ish tunic-type thing? But not so thick and heavy that I'm dying at a convention?

I'm in a position where I can use my agency's travel coordinator to get hotel rooms at any time I need one. As long as I pay for the room and taxes out of my own pocket and not being a dumbass using that government card (How GSA got into the shit with their Vegas trips) there are no issues.

For those riding to the con on the light rail from the train station and the airport, do yourselves a favor and pay the fare. MTA Police were tossing out $250-$500 fines to a shitload of otakon attendees at different stations who got busted on the light rail for not paying up before getting on.

Damn I'm upset. The Upper Deck Bar and Grill went out of business around 8 months ago. So there goes any close by 24 hour greasy spoon joints.

As for that line. Otakon still can't get its shit together with line management. You could honestly replace otakon staff with TSA officers and have a shorter wait.

I do feel sorry for anybody that has to pick up a badge tomorrow. On the bright side, at least it won't be as hot as it was last weekend.

One block north of the Hilton is my favorite 24 hour hole in the wall greasy spoon in Bmore, The Upper Deck Bar and Grill. That place has good cheap eats and serves breakfast at all hours. Bonus points for it being next door to a strip club. Beware that when the clubs close at 2am that place gets swamped.

Walk up a bit further from Upper Deck and you'll hit Lexington Market which has everything from chicken joints, hotdog joints and deli's and more. All of it cheap.

If you can, do try to find a Royal Farms and get their chicken.
