Obligatory.

We have a repair room at ACen called the Cosstudio. All of the supplies you need are there to peruse without needing to go up to your room. There's also water and chairs to rest at and it's out of the way so it's a good place to go if you need to relax for a few. (For the record, we also have a huge rest area upstairs as well, so please don't think of this as part of the special snowflake bullshit.) The cosstudio also has panels for costume and wig construction throughout the weekend, as well as being open for a good long while. It's helped cut down on people finishing up last minute work in their hotel rooms (Not all, but some.), and given them a space where there's others to work with at the same time. It's been more successful and a positive experience than in years where everyone's been left high and dry.

In terms for photos: Gaylord - Katsucon/MAGfest
It has waterfront, foliage, massive staircases, fountains, fairly neutral colors to go with most costumes, arching glass to let in natural light.. it's huge!

In terms of surrounding area: Radisson - Ramencon
It's still a small con, but the area is great! It's midway between where Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois meets at a major freeway connection. There's a mass of hotels and food places directly within a 2 mile radius..not to mention a mall half a mile off. If you need last minute supplies, there's 2 huge wig stores, a Joann's, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels all next to one another.. it's convenient as shit. The staff of the hotel are really friendly..and how the hell can you not love this sexy pool?

Well. We might have found some room for a big Homestuck meet. In trying to be fair to all groups, we -could- hold their gathering, but they'd have to take that one spot at 9 am, since it's a panel room and someone would have to step up. Yey or nay?

We're still working details out, but since it's a full weekend thing.. Just take any fabric that you would like to trade with anyone down to the Cosstudio and leave it there. If anyone has something there you'd like, go for it. No money will be exchanged, it is purely a good will trade to help clean out anything you don't want in your home and to help fellow cosplayers out.

That's exactly why we're not able to have a meetup for them this year. There's just too many of them and they spill out into traffic, which makes the city cop guys not too terribly happy..not to mention, they weren't leaving the area when there were other gatherings trying to hold their meets. When my 'staff' had a whopping 3 people to it and we couldn't get them all to clear out anymore, (This is why I still rely on the gathering leaders~) that's when it was decided that they had lost their gathering privileges for this year.

Have you guys checked the Hyatt down the road? It's not walking ideal, but I believe they have a shuttle that goes between the two venues at least.

Anyways, I hope you guys remember that we're going to be having a fabric swap down in the Cosstudio this year! If you guys have any questions for staff, I'll do my best to answer them. (Just as long as it isn't guest related for this con. They're more tight-lipped than mother nature's warmth right now.)

Anyways, I come bearing gifts! Sorry that it took so long, but here are all of the references you kids could ask for. The entire movie decompressed frame-by-frame. Total is 2.5 gb, broken down into 500 mb chunks. When I say there's a lot? I mean a LOT. Like.. 25,000ish frames per rar file..a lot. I recommend using a program like Irfanview, so you can easily scroll through like a flipbook. Let me know if any of these don't work so I can fix them pronto.

Guest Relations ADH here for several cons.

98% of guests charge conventions for an appearance fee. However much that is, it is negotiated before the con and goes into their contract. Usually, this is to cover for the weekend's missed work and a bit extra, since they're going well and above the usual 8 hours in a day. This also factors in what their agents charge for fees.

Depending on the con and contracts, they may allow guests to openly charge for autographs and photobooths or discourage them. I know we've had guests that charge for prints and materials just to cover the costs of making that money back, since they've used their own funds to do said printing. Generally, with anime cons, I've seen the act of charging openly as frowned upon. Behind the scenes, it may be negotiated upon with an agent and a GR liason to pay for a set number of autographs to help cover costs for a A/B/C lister/non-anime voice actor.. that way, the attendees are not charged for the autographs or pictures. Comic cons and trade shows, it's pretty common. Billy Dee Williams was a hefty as hell $50+ for a photo alone at Chicago Comic Con a couple years back.. Some anime voice actors have recently become part of SAG, so they have been able to charge for autographs and the like, usually per their agents' request or due to some snafu via the con they're dealing with.

As for the porn stars/WWE babes that come around at the cons, they're not marketed as much and have to come up with anything they can do to make a buck.. especially when their haydays were usually about 15+ years ago. (Notice their areas aren't as populated at Comic Conventions..)

But cosplayers with booths? If you're selling a print..use that. Tip jar? You had best have a bucket of Pokemon trainer badges next to it made out of bottle caps for trade. Otherwise, that's just really tacky IMO.

Otherwise, I hope this post has been at least a little informative on what goes on in the world of a GR department.

Thanks a ton! I got over 181k/4 gb worth of frames from the rip. It'll take a few minutes to weed out any non-relevant scenes and start uploading everything... In the meantime, does anyone have any immediate requests then?
