I'm not a fan of the anime (please note that I've only watched maybe 5 episodes and I have heard it gets better) because I think the animation is of poor quality and the directing is awkward. I think the manga is excellent and well worth reading. If I wasn't such a huge fan of the manga, I might like the anime more, I just think it's a lackluster adaptation. That said, if you watch the anime first, you'll have stuff to look forward to with the manga.

Oh, I made that hoodie.

It was really easy! I just got two hoodies, one to use as the base, one to cut up for fin pieces (I only needed a tiny tiny bit, but I wanted the fabrics to match so I bought a whole second one). The white parts are just bias tape sewn on with a zig-zag stitch. The main (head) fins/ears have three or four layers of heavy interfacing stuffed in them and those are sewn on a large piece of interfacing in the back of the hood to hold them up. It took maybe 2-4 hours? A lot of that time was trying to pin the bias tape in the right places and making sure it looked even on each side.

But yeah, super easy.
