This is how I feel every time I apply for grad admissions some place and lack a prerequisite or letter or some other nonsense. Instead of working with me, they tell me to go pound sand. So far, even further behind and not doing what I want to in life. Nobody cares about what you know or how intelligent you are. They want you to a few shiny accolades or volunteer experience or some stupid prereq. They do this to demean you. They know your life is only about 40 years more and if they can get away with setting you back a few years they'll gladly do it. If you are a "nontrad" student, they'll treat you horribly and act with malice if you don't fit their formula which midwits whose parents drilled them for their entire life checked off all the boxes.
