The truth is that, without hindsight, ETH was a far harder buy than LINK is now. I finally ended up buying some ETH in late 2016 but it took a lot of self convincing. At the time, no one really knew if altcoins would perform well or if they had any future at all. I am far more comfortable hodling LINK than I was ETH back then, knowing how large of a potential good altcoins can have.
And as for alts in general, I think the newfags here (majority of posters) often forget that LINK is literally the ONLY altcoin from 2017 that is still well above its ATH from 2017/2018. That is an amazing feat, in and of itself.

And really, if we were to make a fair comparison, LINK is more like if ETH launched during late 2013, pumped a little bit but then faded into irrelevance for a few years. That is pretty much where LINK is.
Late 2020 and early 2021 is when things will start to really pick up for LINK (as well as the rest of crypto).
