Anon, the problem here is that most people haven't heard of ADR, or think it's some fringe meme. Alternative dispute mechanisms are the hottest shit since sliced bread in the traditional legal (and by extension the commercial/financial) spheres. The only way you will see any genuine degree of adoption with smart contracts/defi is if there is a means of resolving disputes that arise during the course of those smart contracts being performed. There's so many smart contracts that would be in action at this point that it would be entirely unfeasible to deal with them through traditional legal avenues with the time/cost implications and realities of scale. Decentralised arbitration is a neat idea that solves this problem, especially when you consider that smart contracts will outline the basis by which any dispute is to be resolved in pretty simple terms. They will not be asking jurors to deal with complex points of law here, silly goose.
