Is a shit-tier degree like history okay if you get it from places like Oxbridge?

It depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to be an engineer, then no. If you want to network and build contacts, it might be the best possible option for you.

Any degree from Oxford, or Harvard or Toronto are gonna be fine

You'll have no trouble finding a 'job' but if you want to make a tonne of money, you better network your ass off with the most richest of kids there, and get some cushy job in one of their dads companies, so just network, if you wanna make millions, but if you're okay with $50k a year, or maybe $100k a year max at the height of your career, then by all means, it doesn't matter.

I like millions though, so I'd network and fuck and impregnate every single rich girl, and suck any rich guys dick.

UofT isn't nearly as good as people seem to think

It just has a high ranking because of the obvious high volume of research and professors.

It also has a retarded grading system and co-op(internships through the university) are beyond fucked. You could have a 4.0 gpa and not get any because of how competitive it is

don't listen to these idiots. yes, a shit-tier degree like history is fine if you go to oxbridge, to a good college, and graduate with at least a 2:1, while networking as you go. don't even think about it if you're not going into oxbridge unless your family is worth 8 figures or more.

this is why degree threads are fucking idiotic

yup it is fine

history probably isn't even in the worst tier anyway

assuming you're planning on staying in the UK then it is fine for career in law and some areas of banking - it is the oxford brand name that will open doors for you

it is also fine for the grad schemes at most blue chip firms, big 4 too etc..

you're only really closing yourself off from quantitative stuff or professions that require specific degrees such as engineering and medicine... Other general grad schemes, management, finance, law etc.. is all still very much open to you - though probably better if you try to get an idea of what you want to do and land an internship between 2nd and 3rd year

If you want to do lateral entry as a teacher or eventually go to law school go for it.
