My issue with that is that I can’t imagine the US government allowing a consortium of whoever to control the official US currency. I think they’ll be an official digital $ (with whatever backdoors, etc. they can fit in it) that will be rolled out. In fact, I suspect it’ll be done through banks on a 1:1 basis to all account holders as that would be the cleanest way to replace the old $ with the new while leaving most none the wiser.

(The alternative is saying “hey, we now have a digital dollar, if you want some, please source from [fucking who crypto exchanges].”)
