You need to be in regular contact with your PhD advisor about this and talk to everyone you ever saw in the hall or class about openings at their companies. Networking as above got me phone interviews with 5 companies now, waiting to hear back about on-sites from 4 and rejected from 1. If you weren't such a dumb ass you would know that what you do during your phd does not strictly define the field in which your carrier as a physicist is going to be built upon. Also, you are to be regarded a total failure if the most relevant work you do is the one you developed during your phd, unless you are someone like Josephson.

Lastly, there are a lot of well paid opportunities in the industry where people are preferentially hiring physicists because of the superior problem solving skills and ability to learn fast. Which is not your case because you are a dumb ass.

I did some shit with nanotechnology i.e. worked as a lab monkey. Don't ask me why its a PhD in Physics but thats how it is. I never had to program during my PhD because there was no point. All I had to do is press a button and the $500k instrument we had in our lab would just pump out some data which I'd plug into Excel or Origin to analyze. Yes, I am not joking. Excel is used and still used by lab rats who never experience the simulation world that "real" physicists use like astro and particle physics people. I started to learn programming in my final year of PhD, and well, could never pass those hackerrank or take home assignments because well really, I didn't know I had to study the entire syllabus of a 1st year Comp sci degree to pass them.

gave you a good answer, but you and I know that it is not going to be the path you are going to take. Your soft skills need development, that's for sure.
I assume you already have good computational kwoledge. If you are not an experimentalist that spent your phd analyzing data with excel, you should know how to code in a couple different languages. If you are a theoretical guy you should also have experience developing models as well. Those are skills that a lot of companies are looking for in a data scientist. Your advantage to computer science grad is that you have a different way to look at a problem.
If you want to remain in the academia you can look for jobs in countries that are in academic expansion and are desperate to hire foreigners so that they can form international teams. I'm talking about china, emirates, brasil... Not the first world but some of the positions are well paid. Remember that the exact field of your phd does not strictly define what you are going to do next. Hell, you are probably going to be able to find a job on a chemical department or computer science department.
