Before I was miserable because I hated my boss and had anxiety about going back to work every minutes of my free time. It's fun at the time but the amount disdain that I feel for myself regarding lost opportunity can be hard to deal with. I did it for a while, but then my mom retired so now she’s home all day. So instead of being around the house getting nagged I got a job at a weed shop. I tell people about weed for $16/hr plus benefits. I meet everyone from flirtatious MILFs to people traveling the world with incredible life stories. As a CS major who got his trading job on the basis of programming skills, I can attest that coding of any sort involves lifting many fingers. I’ve been unable to work on any programmming project, even hobby ones, ever since I became a NEET. The sad truth is that it’s really not for everyone, even if like me you got obsessively into it since childhood. Find something else

I used to think I believed this, but when I finally really started to believe it I realized I was only pretending to myself that I believed it before. Realizing that I was demotivated and depressed in large part because I was settling for things I thought were “reasonable”, in spite of having achieved entirely unreasonable results in my own life in the past as a direct result of abandoning that attitude, is definitely among the most important points in my life so far.
