ok we have got somewhere with the seasteading operation. we have found a list of bargain basement oil rigs of the correct type for seasteading there are about 16 such rigs with a very low price.
http://s1.q4cdn.com/651804090/files/docs_rigspecs/2016/ENSCO-8502.pdf

It's the cheapest real estate on the ocean, AND Norway is divesting from Oil and Gas exploration which means the price of these will go down further.
https://www.thelocal.no/20190309/norway-sovereign-wealth-fund-worlds-biggest-to-dump-oil-and-gas

The plan is to form an independant country on the Ocean using old oil rigs infrastructure

As pointed out before, the costs of just keeping one of these things afloat can be pretty enormous.

The thing about this country is that it would require some somewhat significant productivity to enable it to survive, so to speak.

the obvious answer is
>oil lmao

But its not likely any of these are remotely profitable in the current market, which is why they're cheap. What else could you do on one of these that could make them profitable, and allow its inhabitants as well as the "government" to thrive?

We would need to do something economically beneficial to the international community.

My ideas so far for core economic productivity:

>becoming a legal tax shelter for corporations (competing taxes)
>providing financial services, specifically something like a bank that has a fixed, HIGH fractional reserve ratio, aka no gubmint funny money (don't mistake how valuable this can be), no bullshit FDIC etc
>crypto mining
if the country was somewhere cold, in general, you would have LOTS of nice cold ocean water. Additionally, if one had a decent way to ensure reasonably priced electricity, one could make a pretty good setup for crypto minning utilizing the cold water for cooling.
>non-governmental limited research
most governemnts have limits on research like stem cells, certain social experiments, gene editing etc. Providing a place for people to do this could be lucrative
>prostitution an obvious given
>Could make a nice drug market, utilize "government" transportation services such as helicopter and boat to bring "tourists"/visitors

what else could one utilize the exclusivity of a nation-state type entity to benefit economically from?

>mining
Salt water is absolute deadly for electronics and it gets in through the air and corrodes the shit away.

Also you can‘t just drill random holes in the ground for oil to use as energy source.
It would be wind or sun or a mix of both and these wouldnt provide enough electricity for mining crypto.

and what research can you really allow there?
A lab needs certain things and to get that into the oilrig would cost millions.

And prostitution? Who the fuck would travel to some shitty oil rig to have sex when he can simply book a flight to south east asia or something instead?

and what financial services you want to provide?
Nobody will store their gold in your oilrig that could sink.
Too much risk.

Maybe drugs and child slaves could work but everything else seems retarded
