Brainlet REQ bag holder here (100k) and was reading today's update. Can someone tell me why they are considering moving to another blockchain or creating their own one? What is wrong with Ethereum?

Probably because of scaling issues
Or maybe a yet to be named partner is advising them to do it
Who knows

They might be targeting inter-chain capabilities. It would make sense for the platform to be viable on multiple blockchains.

Supposedly it would make the protocol cheaper to use. Furthermore, tendermint is capable of handling transaction volume at the rate of 10,000 transactions per second for 250byte transactions.

To add to this, ETH scaling may yet be a ways away. If for example another bull run happens and crypto craze happens on an even bigger scale than last time, REQ would look awful if despite being implemented on all sorts of websites they were slow as hell due to ETH taking way too long to implement scaling..
