Engineers can usually get finance jobs. Get a job that will give you the work experience required for a CFA. Once you have that you might be able to get into a boutique. Remember that most people leave IB after 2-3 years. If you stick around too long then it will be awkward to place you somewhere in a hedge fund or private equity.
