Do i do it? Loan is for 50k, total repayment over 5 years is 68k.

If i take this motherfo and hold LINK for 5 years, with 300k LINK in my pocket, i'll make it right?

You’d probably be fine and get quite rich. The question is, can you imagine scraping your life together if, for some reason, the project fails or doesn’t moon? If the answer is no, take out a loan at a level for which the answer is yes.

Link takes off chain data and shares it on chain. Nodes come to a consensus on which data is valid. Users pay for that data. Node holders supply that data, and they get paid.

Basically it's a json parser.

I mean, it is a lot to explain in the format given here and I’m on my phone...but by your question, it is pretty clear you don’t have much of an understanding of smart contracts or blockchain in general. ChainLink solves a major issue that allows sources of data outside of blockchain to have their data input into those blockchains/smart contracts without there being a single point of attack/failure.

Again, it is hard to explain in simple layman’s terms to someone who doesn’t conceptualize the issue that Link is being made to address.

Thanks, that's what i tought. It just gets data from BTC chain and ETH chain. Makes it into a new contract and executes the contract. Basically GET, parse json, GET, parse json, POST to new contract. I fail to see why anyone would need data from multiple chains though, while they can just do the GET's themselves.

If you are already asking if you should then you have great confidence in the project. I know a few people who took out loans and bought crypto. They cashed out near the peak and turned 10k into 300k. Just hedge a little so it's not a complete loss if chainlink fails(it wont) so 30k Link 10k ETH 10kBTC. The hard part is when on your 5 year timeline to cash out and repay the debt in full. If you have the income to support the loan use that to your great advantage.

OP I 100% absolutely think you should.

If you buy in right now LINK is only at 20 cents, and you wouldn't already be considering this if you didn't understand what LINK is.

Don't you think at the absolute minimum LINK will return to 40 cents by the end of the year? Even if the mainnet isn't out? By the end of the year Bitcoin should rise, which will also bring up LINK. At that point you could just cash out half the LINK pay off the loan in full and still have over 100k in free LINK. And that was the worst case scenario. Best case scenario is mainnet comes out around september, and LINK rockets into oblivion.

As long as you can afford the minimum monthly payments on the loan until end of year, what's the big deal?
