NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / June 18, 2018 / If the Cryptocurrency market could not get worse. One of the leading blockchain development companies, (SKY) Skycoin, the company, stated (14) of their employees were allegedly kidnapped and threatened with murder. The employee's were abducted on June 7th, 2018 and released by Chinese authorities on June 18th, 2018 where the victims were held for approximately 11 days. The kidnappers were arrested and the employees were subsequently released without incident.

The damage was done. During the kidnapping, the kidnappers demanded huge sums of SKY coins be transferred to private wallets on the popular trading platform Binance. Once transferred, the kidnappers began selling huge positions of the coin. SKYcoin was valued at $23.39 USD June 14th and finally rested at $7.39 USD resulting in a 70% decline. Company officials would not comment on the incident or the devaluation of their coin price. The company, however, did identify the balances and wallets containing the remaining SKY coins and the wallets containing the bitcoin proceeds. Once identified, the Binance exchange working with authorities and the company returned the coins and proceeds back to the company.

It was mentioned by the exchange, the proceeds of the bitcoins will be used to re-purchase SKY coins on the open market during the next 24 hours. The company is attempting to restore its market valuation and SKYcoin holders balances by purchasing a large sum of coins in a very small period of time. It is estimated 120 million USD in Bitcoin proceeds were generated by the kidnappers during the 11 day period.
