The seller is asking if I want surrendered or original bill of lading. From what I've read the main difference is the original bill of lading is sent out separate to the shipment but the surrendered bill of lading is just packaged with it, to make sure you're not in a position of waiting for the bill of lading to arrive and accruing port charges while they store your shit. If I've already paid does is not really matter which I choose?

You want surrendered bill of lading. If you go original you need to present it to collect at destination. If the shipper doesn't get paid or something goes slightly wrong with timing you will get fucked storage charges whle you wait for the original to arrive.
