Just play around with a few buck and learn the ropes. Look at historical prices to guess which way it's headed, what the daily high/low split it, how much can you make from $100 investment assuming you bought the days low and sold the days high to see how volatile it is, etc.

FREE isn't dead ya dingus, it's for day trading. If you hold FREE for more than +48 hours you are GUARENTEED a loss. For example I bought today at .0265 and sold a few minutes later at .028, ended up making $7. I've profited three time in a row doing this buy buying and selling in less that 48 hours. It's easy to predict realistic numbers you can hit since the high/low of the day is so far apart. The lower the price goes the more shares you can buy, then resell. So you can make even more money trading as the overall price drops.

It's an educated guess but based on the historical prices you can most likely set a limit buy for .026 and then sell at +.027. Don't hold this stock for more than 48 hours, but based on historical prices (pic related) it seems reasonable you can hit this tomorrow. Also it's opened high every day for weeks so don't buy first thing in the morning.

AMD's performance doesn't really make sense in my mind. But I brought when all the big gains appeared and got late into the party buying 300 at $2.16. It's now at $2.39.

Any chance it's going to tumble when they reveal the numbers after New Years for Q4? I kinda wanna sell after making a tidy profit, but there's the slight chance I wanna be in for the long haul in case Zen saves AMD and drags it out of penny stock territory.

Hey guys, I've long been interested in the stock market and such and have just signed up for RH. I've been reading a few of the threads here, and aside from playing around with meme stocks, what are some ways I could take a couple thousand and actually make a small return here and there. I'm not expecting it double anytime soon, but I'm also not that interested in penny stock gambling.

>> No.993724

>>993713
You're in kind of a tough spot.
Many are on RH because they lack the capital to pay out a percentage of their gains to commissions, which works ok for penny stock gambling.
Serious trading would require not only a brokerage that could give you access to what you'd need (which they would charge you commissions for), but also vastly more capital than a couple thousand.
Not saying you couldn't buy 30 shares of something and make a small return, but with that kind of capital you'd probably be better off putting it in a mutual fund or ETF.

Easier said than done.

My original idea was to play off the intraday volatility of very stable stocks. Wait for it do go down a bit, buy some and start selling once it went back up during the day 0.10% to 0.20%. Then I did some math and 0.20% of $2000 is a whopping $4.

Okay, yeah, we all know that.
That's why no one cares about the ".20% a day in movement" stable stocks.

glancing at INVT, what are y'alls predictions for tomorrow? With all the hype will there be a squeeze as soon as market opens or will it crash down back to $1. I'm currently not holding any stock, just speculating.

This is true, but there's a price to be paid. A big one being that settlement periods will have you waiting for days in order to place another trade after the first one.
A bigger price being that you won't be able to access your positions when they move in the pre or post market.

Well here's my overview boys. I've already made $9 off of shorting ASTI once; SFXE is the reason for my current slouch, but I believe it'll go up. XOMA fucked my shit up she I bought for 1.49 and had to sell for 1.39 because I panicked after the 12/01 conference.

Hey I only have $500 to play with as well. I'd rather not lose it all but worse case it won't break me.
Starting with $5 is a great way to learn. Try some penny stocks like FREE, GSBN, ASTI, etc. These all trade for $0.20 or less so you can buy a few shares of each. Next look up their historical prices to see if they are trending up or down. Compare the high/low prices of each day to see what you think you can buy in to make a profit. Look at the closing price of each and see if the opening price the next day is higher. If so, it may be possibly to buy a few shares at the end of the day, then set a limit sell for the morning to automatically sell them at whatever opening price for a few cents more. Also Google search for analysis of the stocks to see if people suggest to buy or sell. They NASDAQ website has good stuff. Google and Yahoo price info only shows to the penny so that wouldn't give you a good idea of say FREE's prices throughout the day because they trade to the thousandth of a penny. Also remember when google says it hit “$0.03” it really probability means “$0.025” (since they round). NASDAQ.com shows prices to the thousandth of a penny which is what you want to see.

Look at the 5 day chart on nasdaq.com to see how the prices fluctuate through the day. Again you are looking to see if the stock starts high in the morning and drops throughout the day. Because if historical prices/charts show that traditionally the end of day price is lower than the opening price, you can buy towards the end of day and sell at open. This is a good start to see what you need to do to make a few pennies. But when you're dealing with $500 it will be more like $5, $10 profit/losses. Remember /rgt/ is here for advice and as a guideline only. We're not here to do the homework for you. You should be actively searching elsewhere for news reports, historical prices, 1 day, 5 day, 1 month, 1 year etc. charts, analysis results, candlestick charts (check out the thinkorswim app and look at the thread sticky for a website that explains how to interpret them, it's easy) and other stuff to help you make an educated guess using technical analysis to determine if the price will rise or fall. Remember even if the price overall is dropping there is still a high/low each day so there's still money to be made in between.

Best advice I can give – stick to the plan. Pick some numbers you think you can reasonably hit and stick to them. If you think you can buy at .0251 and sell at .0258 then do it. Don’t be greedy and wait to see if it will go higher. Stick to the plan and don’t be afraid to take a loss either. I bought CBOE at $69.82 and saw it rise for a few days. Didn’t really have a plan of when to get out and it started dropping. I sold at $69.00 and made a loss when I could have made a profit if I had come up with a plan. I took a loss and was pissed, but considering it’s currently at $64 it was the right move. Getting emotional over the numbers and not having a plan will fuck you every time. Get in, get out fast, and move on to the next one.
