What are some methods for funding a startup outside the norm?
How are you funding your startup currently?
What is your startup?

Personally I'm looking to try to see what all the options out there are, I'm familiar with bank loans, angel investment, venture capital, crowdfunding, etc but I'm wondering if there are any other methods out there people have tried. Do bank loans actually work out?

How is writing up your business plan presentation going?

The absolute best is finding an angel you personally get along with well.
loans are tricky to get and VCs tend to fleece you on their terms.
Crowdfunding/kickstarter only makes sense for certain projects.

Missing from your list:
Depending on your niche, you may be eligible for state subsidies. getting and angel to fund part of it, then getting free money through subsidy is the perfect route.

How did you go about hooking your first angel? Cold calling or recommendation from a friend?

I'll bump this one time, because I would like it if /biz/ was less cryptocurrency and more actual business ideas. It is interesting how we get more job/business threads when crypto crashes, and then they all go away when crypto bullruns.

Go look for a goverment dotation. In my country (eastern europe) they give u around non-refundable 6,5k$ for the very first business. Actually im taking them to buy 20 gpu mining rigs.. In some states they even give u extra bridge-support (paid monthly during the first lets say 6-12 months for basic needs like insurance, office rental etc.) In europe there are plenty of social programs for innovation. Also look in major companies in ur country (sony ericsonn, nokia, ibm etc) as they look for innovations. Dont know what r idea is. Think about going abroad like norway/germany for one year to gather money..matter where ya from..

Nah I'm surprised more NEETs don't put effort into starting businesses. They have a ton of free time and live rent free often with their parents, it is the perfect situation to incubate a startup really.
