I'm in Canada. We are specialized red plaid. Takes 4 years of school and 6500 hours of work for my Trade. Not as easy as your blue collar jobs.

I was mostly talking about driving or laborer jobs, I guess I should have cleared that up. They often want a year or two of experience, but so does every other white collar job.

Long story short, no one wants to do physical labor.

I dropped out of college after 2.5 years and got a technical degree in HVAC instead (some night school paid by the company) and got paid far more than most of my friends. Fast forward 10 years and I have no debt and used that to spring board into an office job (I don't want to do physical labor either) making five times where I started.

I'm a train conductor and make around 120-130k per year. The schedule is grueling and you are away from home a lot. It is a great job if you are single with no kids though. Training was 6 weeks class time and a few months shadowing another conductor as a trainee.

if you have a 4 year degree and earn less than a blue collar worker, you most likely gained no useful skills during those 4 years (likely just partied off, but doesn't even matter if you just learned useless shit hard) and likely still getting more than you actually deserve

Yep. On call all the time. In the us you need at least ten hours uninterrupted rest between shifts. After six shifts in a row, you are required to have 48hrs rest. A shift is 10-12 hrs long. It is definitely a lifestyle rather than just a job but I am also earning way more money than my friends with 4 year degrees with the exception of a couple doctors.

You are right about management though. They are not good people.
