Let's say SEC declares ETH a security. As an Amerifag, what happens to me and my ETH bags (besides the price likely tanking short-term). Can I not legally unload my bags on Binance/GDAX? Will Binance basically tell me to withdraw or lose any ETH I keep on the exchange?

Their reasoning in the blog is that they're doing this so that they can add tokens that are considered securities, but some people believe that they're doing this to cover their ass because Ethereum will be considered a security.

Personally, I don't think Ethereum can be considered a security. It has genuine utility (i.e. creating smart contracts), and it's decentralized. I'm not a lawyer though.

This whole "securities" thing is FUD. Everybody in the U.S. has to go through an "accredited investor" approval process before trading options, for example, and almost everybody is approved to do that even though they don't have $1 million in the bank.
