We just came out of a low inflation and low interest time period. This encouraged investing and purchase of real estate (along with cheap prices from the housing bubble burst).

Don't praise Trump yet. It takes 4-8 years at least to see any real change from the top down. This likely was Obama or even Bush.

These good things are changing. Inflation is going back up along with interest rate. A slow-down is coming. A slowdown that co-incides with Trump's election and will take full effect in 2-6 years.

We have seen better economies overall. Much stabler ones, too. Things have been getting less and less table in the USA since the 1970's with more frequent recessions and bigger bubbles.

No the best economy in history was the German National Socialist economy because Hitler took control of the printing press from the Jew so they couldn't practise their (((fractional reserve banking) scam, and this Germany skyrocketed with a monetary system which came with no inherently attached debt.

Economy the way it’s modeled (top-down as opposed to agent-centric simulations) right now, has noothing to do with perceived happiness and optimism at ground-level. So don’t care about elite-level modeling (by central banks and its stooges) of the economy. Travelling Asia for a while. It has been an eye-opener how people can be happy at ground-level even by living in ‘shitholes’ (by western standard of hyperinflated living standard) and part of strong community amidst of not-so-strong economy.

hes paid pennies but he easily shits on any 'normal' dev that I have worked with in London.

he literally cannot earn enough money to move out of his shithole country, and barely feeds his family.

when i can spare the money i will try to bail him out of there and help him get a visa somewhere else, somewhere that will pay him properly for his skills.

>We have seen better economies overall. Much stabler ones, too. Things have been getting less and less table in the USA since the 1970's with more frequent recessions and bigger bubbles.

Ahh the 1970's, that great period of Oil Shocks & run away stagflation.

1947-1982 (Post-War through the Volcker Recession) had 8 Recessions, Averaged 4.6% Annual inflation (14.4% the highest year & -1.2% the lowest year).

1983-2018 had 3 Recessions, Averaged 2.8% Annual inflation (6.2% highest year, -0.4% lowest year)

Even accounting for the 2008 Recession being the largest since the Great Depression, the last 35 years have been more macroeconomically "stable" than the previous 35.

Unemployment levels are low, price levels are generally consistent, wage growth is okayish. Short run fundamentals are good. Medium to long run risks have substantially increased due to the constant on again/off again trade war, increased fiscal irresponsibility, and establishing a norm of using the bully pulpit to browbeat American corporations (image if President Warren or Sanders decides to continue this tradition). The current administration has also reintroduced increased financial market volatility due to increased policy uncertainty.

The 90s was fun growing up. From the entertainment in film, tv, music, and art to the technology with the internet becoming a reality towards the end of it. It had its painful memories, but it was the last time the world felt okay before 9/11. The terrorism shit went haywire. It was the false flag that JFK said no to. We know what happened to him in Dallas. (Operation Northwoods was an attempt by the U.S to attack one of its own ships in the Caribbean and blame it on Cuba). Technology and the internet have been some of the best accessible assets available and cryptocurrency came in at a good time.

I'm mostly serious. Distribution & overall growth rate are what you should be complaining about if you want to make the 70's & before look better than the last 35 years. Don't complain about the frequency of recessions & stability during the time period made up of the Great Moderation & an anemic, but consistent economic recovery.
