I use shamirs secret sharing scheme and have 30 secrets distributed physically and digitally, of which I need 18 to recreate the private keys. This redundancy protects me from keys being destroyed and never being in plaintext. All keys are entered manually in a fresh ubuntu install that isn't connected to the internet.

Jesus Christ. Him and that other 25k eBay scam.

Makes me feel good that all my crypto is safely inside a vertified ledger nano, with a ridiculously well hidden fireproof backup of the private key.

My email accounts have two-step vertification, my passwords are all 10 digits plus, and in addition my master password list is encrypted with a password I've never written down.

There is literally zero possibility of me ever losing my funds unless I accidentally send them to the wrong address.

I have mine encrypted with Veracrypt using three levels of the heaviest encryption ever devised. AES-TwoFish-Serpent alongside a Streebog 512bit cipher. My coinz are safe as can be.

>> No.9699366

I have 2 USBs, one at home and one at my parents' house, both well hidden, where I store the keys on a TrueCrypt encrypted volume (with a very long password I won't forget).

This way, I'm protected from house fires/floods because of the 2 locations, AND the encryption protects me from a would-be burglar that actually knows about crypto and private keys.

Then, I have a 3rd USB, in a safe in my house, with a different set of decryption keys. This one's keys are set to be sent to my loved ones by Google's inactive account manager (as a deadman's switch) along with instructions (i.e. where the USB is, how to cash out my crypto) in case something happens to me, and no one can get to it without me knowing (as it requires wrecking the safe in my house).

>> No.9699968

>>9699720
Getting targetted directly by a hacker?
Very unlikely unless you're an exchange or publicly known as a whale (some traders known on youtube and twitter have gotten hacked this way).

What's more likely for a private individual though, is viruses, malware, phishing, and scams.
People have had viruses replace bitcoin addresses in their clipboard when they copy-paste.
Bots with API access are known to have sometimes exit-scammed. There's also the VIA event on Binance which had people with compromised API keys.
And of course there's that common fake phishing email from "your exchange".
And how known personalities are always doing "ETH giveaways".

And less of a hack, but people have been BTC-e'd and Bitgrail'd (or going back further, gox'd).

I thought about this a lot and I think you can't get more secure than this:
>Trezor
>write down seed in a piece of paper and manually encrypt it (with pen and paper) it doesn't need to be advanced, just replace A with B, B with C, etc... and write on it: facebook password or something that way even if it gets stolen by a tech savy burglar he won't know it's a seed for crypto.
>Download english dictionary.txt, manually scroll down to each word of the seed (don't use Ctrl+F in the case you have a keylogger), and write a number next to the word, let's say the second word of your seed is cuck, then scroll down to cuck and write 2 next to it.
>Encrypt it with 7zip using AES, and delete original, upload two copies to different google drives (even if you get hacked AES is still unbreakable and it's just a dictionnary file).
I did all this shit using my corporate laptop with heavy security pre installed but I still get all paranoid about it at times.
