Hi I think I just failed a course in college (grades arent out yet but I'm pretty sure). Has anyone on here had experience with doing poorly in college and how did they recover? I might be screwed

Been there severely. Ignore all posts about the college meme, you are already there. Ignore all posts calling you a brainlet, you know what went wrong and it isn't your IQ. You can and will retake the class and perform well. It is absolutely possible to keep failing though, don't just stay on the carousel without a plan of success. I hope you're doing okay OP, I know it sucks.

What’s your major bro. If you were a freshman you might be able to retake it without it affecting your gpa.

Fuck college and university. Join the workforce or the army. Learn real marketable skills. I'm making 60k a year at 23, have a house, and full health insurance for the rest of my life from 4 behind a desk with the army.

got a .57 my freshman year due to partying all the time. Wound up graduating in 5 years with summer school. You should drop out and get into real estate.

It's better than going to university for underwater basket weaving, and then graduating to your job at Starbucks 30k in debt

Not screwed at all, failing is much better than getting a C. If you fail you can just try again and have the higher grade replace your old one

Yes, I've been there. I got 2 Fs because I made friends and started partying too much. I was on Financial Aid, too.
I called the Financial Aid office, made an appointment (with my parents there too), made an appeal and stated my reasons, like 1 class was online and it was hard. It was also my first offense, so my appeal won and I got my funding back.
I also realized that it was the wrong major for me and switched, didn't have to worry about retaking those classes because I didn't need them.
You'll be ok op. There's always someone who fucked up way worse. I knew a girl who made straight As in high school but failed every class in college and dropped out.

Listen here kid, speak to a counselor and see what you can do to make that course up. Sometimes you can go take summer classes or otherwise you will have to retake the course. Just do it or you risk losing that stupid degree. Oh yea, here's a life hack: Lie on your resume! The majority of employers will not do a background check. That is a fact

Dropped out of university due to low grades. Lied on my C.V for the first job i got in my field. Never got called out on it. Gained a couple of years experience.

Told the truth in next job interviews and progressed as I would have done if I had completed Uni.

Failed a music theory class in college. Went on to spend about 6 years in a touring band I started. When that died I got a job at a startup paying 45k then got promoted a few times to a 100k salary. Fast forward to now I own a decent chunk of equity in a multi million dollar company, still low 100s, but get offers on LinkedIn for 200-250k salary jobs. You’ll be fine.

I just kept applying for roles I felt suited for at various startups, mostly in customer support at the time, which is what I eventually got. Grew the team and operations as the company scaled, have now been exposed to everything from sales to product, project management, and then some. If you’re hungry for a job then just be real, let them know why you care and why you think you’ll add value. Then work your ass off and prove your value. Most startups are willing to take a chance on someone who lacks experience or a fancy degree but seems smart and like a good fit.
