Rolled a 59 twink premade back in the day. ZG gear and epic mounts, those were the days. Played up until 2009ish, had a black temple hunter and a gladiator rogue. I quit the game cold turkey. I still think about it from time to time.

Funny that I got got unbored with it the moment I started playing Vanilla/TBC servers. Wrath ruined the dungeon experience completely, cata ruined the vanilla levelling experience and replaced it with retard-proof quest hub bullshit, no exploration needed, finish your shit quests and then we give you a quest to go to the next hub, rinse and repeat, etc etc.

I used to want this too. Then I realised it won't be the same. You know why? Because people actually know how to play the game now.

No more pwning n00bs.
No more selling "of the boar" or "of the wolf" gear.
Everything will be cleared the day it's released.
There's no more lagging out in new raids (one of the reasons naxx took so long to clear).
You won't ever run into a rogue who doesn't stun lock you.
You will find it very hard to find tanks for scholo because there's no BIS pre-raid gear there for them.
You will find it very hard to get casters for Strat for the same reason.
There will be no mystery.
Everything is already known and optimised.
It will only be a race.

I think I'm the only person that disliked TBC. Something about the general aesthetic of Outland totally put me off, didn't really feel like Warcraft. Wrath was pretty much everything I wanted from an expansion but because of TBC I didn't care about it at all while it was current. It'll be interesting to see if they progress in expansions on the classic servers.

This. Was bullied for most of my school life and subsequently did terribly in class and had no encouragement or tutoring outside school and im pretty sure my IQ is less than 100. Turned to gaming and wow to find comfort and escape and made friends online whilst growing up. Ive turned my life around somewhat since then and i doubt i will play classic wow constantly for more than 2 months. I quit wow the day i hit 365 24 hour days played on my main alone.
that doesn't include all of the alts that were also max level (85 back in my day)
the worst part is the day i learned about bitcoin was in early 2010 but i had a lich king raid to farm for
then the raid went bad and i forgot about bitcoin completely for years.
i would have mined the absolute shit out of it too, we're talking 50 btc block cpu mining before gpu mining came out.

But its content is available in the current game, you can always go back to starting area / start a new char and never progress over lvl 60.

It's actually a much better game in every way now than it ever was back then, but it's no longer socially acceptable for most of them to play it
