Sup guise
Let's talk about hardware you're using for your trading

Last 3 months I've been trading from my macbook, but now it just can't handle all pressure I want to put on it. So I would like to ask advices / your own experience in regards building PC for heavy trading.

What CPU are you using? i5 enough or should I look for i7? Or maybe look for AMD solutions?
GPU? In future want to upgrade to two 4k displays (currently have 26" 1080p + built-in 13" in my laptop). Do I really need top tier 1080gtx / vega56 or it could work fine with 250$ graphics card?
16GB RAM is okay or should I watch for 32?

Besides trading do want to occasionally play games when I go drunk, possibly video editing / 3D stuff

Shill your builds / discuss

This is why I'm looking for desktop build. Mobile CPU's have TDP somewhere 10-18 watts, while desktops can be up to 70w, which means at amount of load which will toast laptop desktop could handle 3x more and keep this load for days straight with proper cooling

i7, 32gb ram, free slots to upgrade to 64gb, if you want to edit video you can't have too much ram

i7-4770
12gb ram
gtx 1060 6gb
22" monitor

It's just perfect for my needs. At the moment it's mainly vidya with lots of browsing (stopped trading in January). From what you wrote and what I've read, you'd be safer with a 1070, just for the 3d stuff. I'm not sure about the ram. But since it wouldn't be its main purpose you might be able to get away with something like my build.

Sounds good. Can your i7 handle 5 chrome windows each with 30-50 heavy tabs?
RAM is extendable, so it's not a big deal. My main concerns are CPU/GPU since it's more expensive if you fail with your initial choice

I haven't tried, I've found Chrome to be too slow for me recently. But in task manager it always seems to take a bigger chunk of the RAM than the CPU, so I'd be inclined to go with the former.
