This is what the market needs to mature. It needs a regional big daddy government to tell them what is acceptable.
This is fucking hilarious as are the cucks that support it.

anon, this is a probe into CME/CBOE btc future trading. they caught someone insider trading commodities and he's grassing up his friends on wall street. they're not investigating any exchanges you use.

Doesn't mean people within the US can't be held accountable. I'm not saying they're going to go arrest people in your shithole country, ya dingus.

They won't be able to clean up the problem since the spoofers are most likely rich street shitters or dog eaters.

They definitely can't stop anyone outside of the US, you're right about that. It's going to be several years but we're going to see international treatises crop up around crypto. This is why I don't invest in privacy coins for long term. They will be the first targets when lawmakers start to catch up with the tech.

Government wont be able to do anything about privacy coins. Businesses want privacy and people increasingly demand it.
Plus all the privacy coins have been preparing for government crackdowns since their conception. A bunch of 80 year old lawmakers vs 20-30 year old software devs who realize the adversarial nature of government and have prepared against it.
Wonder who will win.

Governments don't have to go after the coins, they just enact laws banning them from being traded on exchanges in their countries. This will essentially kill most of the value of the privacy coins, making them a horrible investment. It won't stop them from functioning, but it will kill their value and discourage the public from using them. This is a very basic concept to grasp, I don't understand how so many people on /biz/ don't get it or have an arrogant attitude that somehow privacy coins will prevail; they wont.

Privacy coins will win because the people that value privacy are the whales that will control lobbyists.
We may not get monero on coinbase any time soon but there is more than enough support for a solution like GRAFT(based on monero) to legitimize use cases.

Monero (the only privacy coin that's actually private) is one of the only coins with an actual use case right now. Somewhere, there will be an exchange that trades Monero for BTC and ETH. Govt's can ban all they want. There will be a country that won't and the exchanges will set up shop there. A Monero ban would be impossible to enforce; that's one of the whole points of it. You see arrogance from people who understand this fundamental element of Monero. As long as there are a few exchanges listing it, and there always will be, I don't see price receiving much impact from a ban.
