Picking good projects is only smart if you are going to invest in the long term. If you are going to do day or swing trade you should rely more on measuring and interpreting hype, which requires you to have more of an emotional kind of intelligence, not the verbal-symbolic one.

And of course when investing in crypto we're in an actual free market. Probably the freest market that there is in the world right now. Other people's opinion counts because they're going to put the bulk of the money. It's no use if X team has objectively better tech and better coding drones and so and so when the gross of the people aren't going to care about that. What matters is what people ends adopting and what problems does the product solve.

I was like this the first few years but success is a combination of timing, volume, exchange listings, and technology. the best technology coin with the best team will still fail with bad release timing and illiquid, shady or sparse exchange listings. you have to time your buys and accumulate in bear periods, and lock in gains with ETH, BTC, or fiat. ETH and BTC are the only coins that ever fully recover from big dips, generally. the alt market is still pure speculation at this point and it must be treated that way if you want to trade at a profit. the alts with the best fundamentals usually gain value in the long run.
