Let's say a whale does a miraculous 100x and profit 500000 BTC, who is gonna pay for that? Bitmex out of their own pockets?

The market. This is a retarded question that illustrates you have no idea what game you are playing.

> he doesn't understand a peer to peer market
If his ROI says 5000x this doesn't mean that he really made 5000x because this ROI is just calculated from the market price.
If this means that someone sells his position für lets say 10000000 $ then he instantly crashes the market and his 5000x is just fake

Leverage is not a magical multiplication.
You can borrow more if you take more risk. If you borrow more, you make more on the margin but you get liquidated faster if it goes the other way.

Kek y’all are retards. When you close a position you’re simply entering the opposing trade at the market price.

generally the exchanges have a lot of coins 'locked' at various prices. the trezor and ledger nano have a price lock feature, so in your scenario the exchange would unlock some coins in their trezor that were locked at $10k to pay the guy. these large exchanges have a lot of bitcoins locked at various prices

Well for once if you'd profit 500k BTC you'd be the most profitable trader on BitMex exponentially. But to answer the question, every position you take, someone else takes the opposite side. So the losing side pays the winning side, its a zero-sum game. Now ofcourse there's a lot of indirect opening/closing so it's handled by the BitMex engine.
