Let's face it /biz/. Shrimpfarm was a good idea, but the numbers are off.

>no limitation on free shrimps = botted to hell
>high seed = high inflation

You COULD hop on one of the clones that changed nothing, and hope it's going to work better for you because you got in early. Provided enough suckers think the same way after you.

You could join one of the clones who simply turned off the free shrimps function. This doesn't fix the inflation issue, and the dev sits on his ass collecting his 4% fee on your buys and sales forever.

OR you could try an improved version where these problems have been taken care of: Snailfarm.
In Snailfarm, the 300 "free" snails cost 0.001 eth. This slight fee helps push away the bots.
More importantly, you lose 1/3 of your snails when you sell your eggs. You can't join in early and dump endless eggs on newcomers. Grow your nest or lose the race. Inflation is kept down by constant snail deaths from weak hands.
FINALLY, the dev isn't passively rentseeking forever. Once you have 100,000 snails, you can become the contract owner, complete with the 4% fee on buys and sales and the 0.001 fee on starting snails. The next guy will have to sacrifice 200k snails to take it from you, and the guy after that 300k, so it's a constant snail sink keeping inflation down as interest grows.

In closing, consider this.
The ETH in the shrimp contract has dropped steadily from 80 to 50.

It takes 24 hours to lay as many eggs as you have snails. If you start with the free 300 and double every day, you'll get there in a week. Those who use referrals or buy eggs have a leg up.

Cool idea to restrict free shrimps to 50. They still keep the dev fee, albeit lowered to 2%. Centralization risk with the owner able to change the amount of free shrimps.
