Let's have a change of pace from all the pajeetcoin shilling and frantic hair-pulling shall we? Let's talk about those personally unique business ventures you may be concocting in your masturbatorium that keep you up at 3am.
>I decided I should draft a band partnership agreement and read up on copyright laws so I can brace myself for the off-chance my band succeeds
So far, this is how I understand true success to be achieved in the music industry:
>sign BPA and establish key authors right away
>determine future profit/loss allocation between members based on intellectual/asset contribution
>trademark the name and logo
>play shows and sell merch to make 75% of profits
>hand out free CDs at shows to promote mp3 downloads and website traffic (ads)
>eventually license merch manufacturing rights to be able to print and sell in local jurisdictions while on tour
>"incorporate the company" once we start making bank, then grant myself power of attorney to stay independent and in control of my intellectual property
Am I missing anything?
>inb4 music isn't a suitable career
If I'm exceptional enough of a musician that people throw me money and ask for my name everytime I play in the streets (and I'm in college studying finance btw) then surely I can exploit this professionally.

I'm a producer who plays guitar and a bit of piano
When do you know you're good enough to start showing your stuff?

if you can draw a crowd wherever you play, I'd say you're ready.

Fucking never. We're wasting a potentially good thread with this garbage band stuff. You're better off with shitcoin gambling than trying to make money in music.

Anyway, for a small business idea I was thinking of coming up with a trinket of sorts to sell to oilfield companies. Does anybody here have experience in the Canadian oilfield? Is this industry too beureucratic to reasonably start a small business?
