Less than 3k users less than 30btc capacity, even if it ever does work it is designed to have a centralised hub and spoke architecture so in reality btc isn't even a cryptocurrency anymore.

Lightning requires everyone post an initial transaction on-chain depositing some amount of BTC funds for use in a lightning channel

Here's a quick proof on why it's vaporware:

best case scenario: everyone on earth knows exactly how much BTC they want in available in their lightning channel from now until the end of time

-> 7B transactions that need to be posted on-chain
-> 7*10^9 / 7 txns per second BTC txn capacity = 10^9s just to START using lightning
-> 10^9s / 60s in minute / 60m in hour / 24h in day / 365d in year = 31.7 YEARS before the world can start using lightning in the most optimistc, retarded definitely not going to happen scenario
