top: bitcoin after mt gox, which was handling 70% of all transactions (meaning >70% of trades) and the amount lost was 7% of the total circulation at the time.
the top black line is descending slope from ath to bottom. the bottom black line was the worst possible bottom. the middle black lines are bottoming periods.

bottom: today. the black lines are the same slopes from before. the blue lines are the current slope from ath and the previous bottom periods. the thin blue line is the most optimistic bottom.

nothing really happened that crashed us from ath other than governments, bog, and congestion. if you believe that congestion will be fixed, we should recover faster. this is supported by how recent bottoming periods were much shorter than from mt gox. if you believe btc will be utterly destroyed by competition, then unless something catastrophic happens to all of crypto, the godcoin you have up your ass will at the very worst converge EOY, sideways, and moon.

If you want to compare to 2013-2014 even though it's completely different and irrelevant to today's market, have a look at this.

I think either way, it's useless to make these comparisons. The market is moving exponentially faster today.
