Fed Shitpost Edition

>where's the hedge fund?
A resident tripfag, obergruppenfuhrer (Comfy), requested that it be excluded until he gets the next version up and running. Will refund those involved. Stay tuned!

Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

Interactive Brokers

Micron is never a good buy if you are playing long. Samsung has so hilariously outstripped the economic viability of other memory fabricators with their new megalithic fabs over in asia.

Just one of those fuckers at full ramp can wafer start micron's entire manufacturing capacity. Now consider that samsung has a fuckload more fabs where that came from.

The Green Organic Dutchman (TGOD) debuted on the TSX this morning. Keeping a very close eye on this company in coming weeks. Volatility all over the place on day 1 trading (it went 3.60 to 4.25 now down to 3.95 and twitchy). Lots of hype with this company and i expect it will perform very well relative to the other big LPs in the spring/summer legalization bull run.

Regarding Canadian senate committee recommendations for amendments to bill C45 (legalization bill), the media have not done a good job clarifying the committee's position on some of the stuff recommended in the document. Media have, in fact, reported certain absurd calls for delay from the abo contingent without clarifying that the abo recommendations were majority rejected by the committee as a whole. Any talk you hear of "Canadian weed could be delayed one year" is baseless as majority rejected recommendations have ZERO weight on anything.

Committee's document:
https://sencanada.ca/content/sen/committee/421/LCJC/reports/LCJC_FinalReport_BillC-45_e.pdf

Skip to page 10 to see which recommendations were majority upheld and which were rejected. Anything that does not have majority support is pure hot air. It appears the only sticking point of legitimate concern is home cultivation. The senate can reject everything the committee recommended if they wish.

There should be no delays on account of this document.

Well, Korea's been at peace for years now. I dont think they'll suddenly start being economically productive anything like that just because a treaty gets signed (if it does get signed). One question to ask yourself is 'what will (North) Koreans want that they dont have now'? Well, McDonalds for one. And they'll probably want copies of Windows, if Windows isnt considered a national security threat by the Norks. And maybe they'll want new cars. The point I'm trying to make is they'll want a bunch of relatively boring things that the rest of the world wants that wont affect the South Korean economy especially. The effect of an open North Korean market will be diluted throughout the whole world.

This is the most moronic shit I've ever seen. This is major players who buy bonds in size went into equity markets because there are no yields. Now, it went on long enough, and they cashed their vested bonuses, etc. Now, they will retire, or get fired, or whatever, but they can't sell this shit now. Unless of course SNB does it's usual blow out because the thesis doesn't work. Then it will be one bad day, they will probably get stopped by the FED. But SNB is retarded enough to sell their $100B or so position market. Maybe on the open. It's not money for them in the first place. Or maybe they sell to the FED. Then more QE starts. It's not a normal market. If you ever traded auctions, its an imbalance action. Then they print, and then nothing is there anymore. It fades slowly or rapidly.

You don't understand the level of idiocy "professionals" have. If you can do it with your own money, you are way better than a lot of those people who can only burn firm's money. You will either be fine or not. Chances are you will fail, but I was careful too. You have higher than normal chances of making it. It's also undoable alone. You need a partner. It's doable, but very hard. You will make friends in a firm. I would have gone to mad house if I didn't have a partner whom I traded most of my productive career. It used to be you sign up as a trainee on the floor of AMEX or some Chicago Exchange for options. I can't help you with options. I trade mostly cash. You have to trade volume with cash. It doesn't make sense. I have some boxes that would have opposite positions in the same name. It's less than ideal, and it rarely happens, but you are misunderstanding the nature of trading. It's statistics. The simpler your idea and execution is and more statistically significant results are, I don't care if I lose on one or make on another. It's like rolling the loaded dice if you have a correct strategy. My experience is that trading is made way more complicated than it is. Find significant edge, exploit it. Single trade makes no difference. It's a statistical trial. At least that's how I think of cash equity trades. Options, you buy significant upside, so it's not as cut and dry. But basically the same shit. One trade makes no difference at all. There are great trades, terrible trades, it's all a roll of a dice.

Yeah, but you realize that every strategy has losses, right? You really make money when you apply whatever the idea is to a wide universe of stocks.

I am 99% purely box/statistical trader. I some investing. But it's more to capture stupid shit. It's not really a business model. But statistical stuff is business. People used to do it by hands, but now the spreads are so low, it's not worth doing ti by hands, so computers do make money on those things because of statistics. And there are infinitely many strategies. What seems stupid to you is perfectly fine to whatever strategy is doing it.

yeah me and some of the other guys have been daytrading the weekly options on it (pretty fun, lil bite size positions can do great. did a deep OTM one today and got 1000% ROI). it would be awesome to get the momentum on it before it happens

woulda been 2 but im a chickenshit and i was scared id get stuck with them (it was for the FED shit).

i like options because you can lose a BUNCH more trades and still stay profitable if you have the balls to let your wins run a reasonable amount

Most of trading is mechanical. Trying to sniff out buyer or a seller. So for different markets there are different techniques, because there are different rules. Trading is affected by different rules. It's not one approach fits all. The same things work for NYSE stocks but wouldn't work for NASDAQ stocks. NASDAQ is more like black jack, and NYSE is more like poker. NASDAQ is too thin a universe for what I do. But again, different people are good at different things.

I was first taught that all the companies I know are not my stocks. I need to find some pos mid caps and train there. I traded A/B shares because nobody traded them. I made a little bit of money on them. It's more like a training tool.

were all just so bearish on all of them, i think we feel itll be an easy trend to predict. ie: directly fucking south after the rally. i think ive done like one position of calls on it in the last 2 weeks.

i dont like trading the individual cos stocks because i cant stand the shit company. theres too many people that shouldnt be invested right now and its gonna make it way worse than it has to be (unless im short)

There is a way to do it. You need to write a calculator. This trade used to be great, it's a POS now. You mean when index takes off in the later part of the day? It was great when those levered ETFs rebalanced. They changed methodology. They were losing so much money on it to guys like me. It's tricky now. I think they are much less stupid and it's not worth it for me to deal with this trade except when it's obvious. I don't know what people do now. I have my own set of models that sort of build into a coherent structure, and it keeps me busy. It's endless work. That big smack down trade if when the market collapses into he close is a classic. That I do, but it's really one of those easy money pick ups not something systemic.

My boss used to short stocks down a fortune closing at the lows. There is little retail in individual names now. But retail panics and sells on the open. Retail is gone from most stocks. They are in hot names and etfs.
