9203161 No.9203161 [Reply] [Original]

Sitting here, researching, reading, checking facts, playing DAPP games, investing in solid projects on exchanges. and nothing I do nets me profits.

More and more postings talks of P&D cabals, Crypto Mafias and what not. I look into mining and see that it costs a pretty penny to set up a decent rig to clear overhead and go green after paying electricity bill.

0x1D3C02cC09bd99ab0d18b3D51d23B013D0905ee0 sitting there with $0.25 in it and I'm at a loss for where to go next as far as crypto.

So my question to the folks in here who legitimately know their shit,
what advice can you give me to turn let's say 20 bucks into a couple hundred within 3 months?
I'm just frustrated af

Okay then. I can think of a few ways. One, you wait for somebody to really start shilling a coin. The telltale signs are very low market cap and volume (makes it easier to pump), usually dozens of threads just appear out of nowhere over a few days. Then you have to bail before the pumpers do. The other way I could think of is looking for one of the, say, top 25 coins by volume and seeing if there's any major news on the horizon. The price will usually pump before news, and more often than not dump after.

SERIOUS ADVICE SO LISTEN UP

First off, learn some TA. While it's not crazy effective, knowing your basic "head and shoulder" and "cup and handle" can make a nice difference in how you trade. Investopedia is your friend.

Use supercomputers and forums like this to see how things are predicted to go. Trust the computer over people usually. The services I use are:

Wallet investor
Trading view

In wallet investor, use the forecast option to see how things are predicted to go in the near future for a given coin.

Third, don't ever dump more than 50% in one coin, but keep a big chunk on blue chip coins for safety. Pick 2 or three you want to bet a lot on, that have a following and good product. A diversified portfolio is important. There's no right way to do things, but there are general guidelines. Mine looks like this:

40% blue chip (I like eth)
20% tron
15%link
and I'm aggressively ready to lose the other 25% gambling on small market cap coins not on binance. I'm working with about 120k, so I put 1k (about 1% of your stack) on anything that even looks remotely interesting, and check back in 6 months. The idea is that if 1 does a 20x all the others could fall 90%, I'd still make money. You have to cast a wide net to win, but have a backup in your bluechips. Never run out of bluechips so you can buy altcoins when the market bleeds. Make a cool 10% overnight that way with only a few trades.

Don't buy when things are mooning. I don't care what tards tell you here, don't. Usually, only buy stuff when its red. Do not FOMO. Accept that you missed it and look at other investments.

Last thing, have strong hands. If you buy something and it tanks, DO NOT SELL unless really bad press just hit and it's never going back up (like bitconnect). You wait until your investment is worth more than you paid for it before you let it go. Never sell for less than you bought. Just wait, that's why I have 50 different shit coins. That way I'm not stuck when shit flies.

Questions?

Cont.

Also, since minimum transactions are usually around 10 dollars, you need to get more money before focusing on this. Work for a week or two and put at the very least $500.

Warren Buffet said that you should invest like the market won't open for another 10 years.

And if you're interested in my background, I started with a $2,000 investment in early 2017 and haven't added anything to it.

Food for thought, if you had 100 in Raiblocks around the time I started, it'd be worth 33k right now. Some of my best investments have been PERL at the ICO, TRX at 27 satoshi, and XVG at 220, all before I knew they would be mainstream. I mean, PERL really isn't mainstream, but it made me a ton of money.

Ooh, one more tip, use stop-loss. If you have the time, chase the price up as something moons with stop-loss offers, keeping a decent margin under the price as so to not trigger the sell during normal staggering. When it corrects, you will profit. Then chase the pice downwards with a stop-limit the same way. Best way to maximize profits. Also, laddering your sells is an alternative to what I just mentioned that more people probably prefer.

I'm surprised the majority of opinion isn't positive about it. but only because of survivor-ship bias
the chance of any investment scheme working in the short term is about 50/50. the winners sing praises while the losers shut up.
same goes for 99% of the stuff you're going to learn here.

This is the best part of your post. If the fundamentals are good, wait. If the fundamentals are bad enough that you need to sell, you should never have bought. One thing to add is to find the most hated coins on the market, find out why they're hated, and, if it's an irrational hatred, buy. Then, wait a few weeks/months until the pink wojak 'why did /biz/ tell me to sell' threads come in.

>>TA
TA is certainly not as effective in the cryptocurrency market. A lack of regulations allows people to manipulate coins with smaller market caps, as well as high volatility and no trade limits. TA works really well on the NASDAQ because people are limited in their impact. These patterns are recognized for a reason. Even if TA is only right 51% of time, that's enough certainty to systematically earn money.

Side note - check out boolinger bands. It's my favorite TA tool for highlighting over or undersold coins. Waller investor does them.

>>Walletinvestor.com is free. A testament to their accuracy, they predicted btc would fall once it hit 20k, and they predicted a floor around 6.5k all the way back in November. They are astonishingly good. One thing though, they are strictly TA. Things like updates and forks are not considered in their analysis. I'll attach an image.

>>I have so much Tron because I bought it super cheap many months ago and it exploded in value, becoming one of my biggest investments. It most likely won't have another run like it had, but a big update is right around the corner. I'd be hesitant to put money on it right now, although it appears to have more appreciation to come in the near future, which is why I'm doing the HODL. I just don't buy things when they're doing well. I try to get in before I know if it's even good. As far as link goes, same story big update coming, biz has been talking about link for a month and it's really a solid project. Do your own research though.

I want to weigh in a little here.

While cryptocurrency is now technically not acknowledged as currency by the US (where I live) government, it behaves like a currency. It is as valuable as the public says it is, therefore if all established investors stop trading for a moment, the determination of stock price depends on if new investors are willing to pay for the last sell price. THEREFORE, the value of assets can change without a directly coorelated change in the state of investors.

The price of a coin can go up without seeing that same amount spent to buy the coin. All that has to happen is two people agree on a trade at a certain number at a moment when no one else is trading, and suddenly all shares are valued at that amount for that moment. I hope that makes sense.

What I'm saying is assets can be worth more without more money going into the market. It is incorrect to say that crypto is a zero sum game especially because it can be spent directly on goods and services that are valued by the individual.

yeah, not really. the purpose of a currency is to be a medium of trade, but as long as the price is decided by speculative trade that's not what it's going to be used for.

>the determination of stock price depends on if new investors are willing to pay for the last sell price
stock prices are determined by the valuation of the company behind it. there is some range in value from risky bets the company is making, but it's generally not from speculating based on what other investors are paying.

also zero sum doesn't mean the market cap is at pre determined number. zero sum means the average profit across all participants is zero. which is true as long as people aren't giving money to coin holders out of their own pockets

I forgot to answer the thing about ICOs. Sorry. Yeah, they're still viable. They're illegal in the US, so you have to use a VPN and tunnel your connection through a different country. It's actually super easy. Try tunnelbear if you aren't tech savvy.

Be ready to lose any money though. One thing some whales do is buy a ton of an ICO token and dump them as soon as they go live to make a marginal profit. It can destroy the price. Just be aware that it happens.

And never invest in lending ICOs. Don't mess with lending.

Your first argument is beside the point. I can buy dinner with btc, then that is me deciding how much I think I certain amount of btc is worth in steak. Whether or not it meets utility as currency, my argument was that individuals decide the value of a given trade and people buy stuff with btc.

On your second point, when I said stocks, I wasn't referring to IPO stocks, I meant cryptocurrency investments. My mistake for the flub. What I meant was, in an online market, price valuations change based on last sell.

I proport that the average income for investors in the cryptocurrency space is not ≈0 because, while price valuations do share a relationship with market capitalization, it is not linear. I'm open to arguments though.

just saying it doesn't behave like a currency, against your claim that it does.
>I wasn't referring to IPO stocks
I wasn't either, the secondary market still follows the company's valuation
>price valuations change based on last sell.
price and value are different things. if your trading based on price and not value your kind of playing a game of chicken with other speculators.
>I proport that the average income for investors in the cryptocurrency space is not ≈0 because, while price valuations do share a relationship with market capitalization
it has nothing to do with market cap. as long as outside money isn't involved people are just shuffling money around. if someone comes in a buys everybody's bitcoin for a trillion dollars then the market cap is a trillion, he's out that trillion, and everybody else takes it as profit. the average is still zero

go get a job, you need at least 5-10k of capital before you can begin trading the large caps, and make 10-30% per trade. It'll only take you 72ish 10% trades to break 1 mil.

You can make any number of arguments to say it isn't like money that aren't related to my point, like that money is tangible, for instance. The only way I'm claiming they are related is in that they are only worth what people will pay for them.
>>I wasn't either, the secondary market still follows the company's valuation
That's not entirely true when it comes to cryptocurrency. There's an entire school of thought around TA trading. Some people don't even care what the acronyms stand for. They're just looking for patterns. In addition to that, some cryptos don't even have a company behind them, like BTC itself. That means the value of BTC isn't based on a company.
>>price and value are different things. if your trading based on price and not value your kind of playing a game of chicken with other speculators.
I wasn't talking about how I trade. In fact, I detailed my strategy earlier in this thread. What I'm describing is how the value of a coin in relation to the USD can go up more than the amount of money that has been spent on that coin. When you look at CMC or other charts, you can sometimes see candles that have insanely long wicks where price action stopped for a second and a trade occurred temporarily skewing the price of the coin by over 100%, making it, for that moment, worth way more than the amount of money that's been spent on the coin overall.

TBC...

I think this logic is flawed because you are describing a single transaction. If said guy spends a trillion on btc while it stands at 156Bil right now, there would be a 844Bil difference in current price and price paid. That means holders of btc wouldn't be up a Tril, they would be up 844BIL because of how much they already paid, not a Tril.

To summarize, our buyer would be out 1 Tril and our holders would be up 844 Bil meaning the average would be -166Bil.

This is by a large margin the most civilized conversation I've ever had on 4chan. But I have to go for now. I'll revisit later, and read the rest of this thread. I appreciate your demeanor in defending your point.

Peace.
