When applying for a job and a company asks you your desired salary on your CV and/or during the interview, what the fuck are you supposed to say? I feel like if I ask for 10k more than what they're thinking, they'll refuse me and if I'm 10k under I've just lost out. Is this how it works?

Thanks /biz/

What job are you after? (this matters).

if ur after line cook at mcdonalds, u cant ask for more than minimum wage cuz ull get laughed at

if ur investment banker u can ask for a wide range for first year, 120k - 150k (with bonus included)

It's for a large international company. Don't know if it's best to be specific or give a wide range like you just explained.
