if you want to work in finance/economics the degree is essential even if the skills you are learning right now aren't. They will be more so in upper year courses.

Just focus on your study, and maybe try to work in the summer

Having the degree is absolutely essential. Grit your teeth and get the degree while keeping the job. That way even if your marks aren't too good the experience you get with the job will compensate.

Hey OP!
I was in your shoes 5 years ago. I have recently finished my stupid Masters and I can tell you it absolutely matters to have a diploma.

I will agree with you that you probably won't learn much. Everything you learn with economics, you could easily learn on the side anyways. However, the academic part of it, you kinda have to go to university for. And the way an academic thinks is good to know, as you will become educated as a person.

My advice is definitely to stay in school, UNLESS! Unless you can actually create something valuable on the sideline. You need something to prove your value, that a diploma can't.

Ask your boss what he thinks of you and your career at the place. If you definitely can go up, and earn at least 100K yearly within a couple of years, stay, if not, stay in school, get good grades, network with the rich people at university, and make something valuable on the side or learn something very valuable (coding or insane analytical skills)

Short term gain Vs long term gain.

A degree will give you a higher ceiling.
