You use a hot air station for smd components, unless they're large enough to rework with an iron and desoldering wick. I made decent side $ for a while repairing fuckups retards made destroying smd pcbs with soldering irons. Now it isn't cost effective anymore, but nice while it lasted.

I agree, though with a steady hand and a good iron it's possible to do decent work on smd. Even better if you can put you hands on binoculars.

It takes a good amount of practice, I used random hardware and eventually I could work easily on 0603, and 0402 on my good days.

Managed to make some nice side money too repairing and reselling barely used shit people throw away to buy a replacement without thinking.
