I came here from /sci/ hoping to have some threads about derivative securities or maybe risk management, but no.

I was wrong, all this board is about is circle jerking over cyber currencies and making speculative investments.

Do yourselves a favor and open a roth ira and put the max on your 401k plans, that is if you don't work for McDonalds or aren't an unemployed NEET.

Using a conservative average return rate of 6% per year, and putting 15% of your earnings into a roth IRA and 401k you can retire at 65 with close to 3 mil.

Well I was using 65K/year with the salary increase per year equaling inflation so that the purchasing power of the salary remains the same, so if you had a higher wage, or in increase in wages higher than inflation, or a higher average market return rate like 7% or 8% you probably could retire a good 10 years before, especially if you put closer to 15% or 20% of your wages into investments, which is realistic if you have a smart spouse who is doing the same and that you can combine wages with to maintain that rate of investment.

You all have this idea of "wagecucking" like working for a living is a bad thing.

You really hate working because you choose to work doing things you hate. Honestly if you find something you like to do that helps people in the aggregate and at the end of the day you can say that society is better off now than it was eight hours ago then you're not being cucked, you're living a fulfilling life, not getting burned by some fictional "man".

I'd rather spend forty years managing investments for people and doing actuarial science trying to help other people retire, something i'm working towards right now, than live my life as a playboy who has no point of existence.

you're missing the point.

people here aren't looking to play the game that was laid out to us since we were born. people here are looking to get ahead of the market and get ahead in life.

If I wanted to build a nest egg so I can die comfortably I'd buy up mutual funds in an IRA or buy up annuities. But I'm not interested in planning for my death, I want capital gains faster than the traditional market so I can spend the money while I'm alive.

Slow and steady works when you have a decent size chunk already, but I need capital gains, and what has a better chance of making those gains? Buying into an overbought market? or Buying into an emerging one with a market capitalization of 400B?

I'll buy up stocks after the next crash. Thought it would happen by now but looks like we may have to wait a couple more years.

The thing you aren't getting is we are seeking financial freedom. You have a slaves mindset. You believe you must work for someone else in order to exist, and the only way out is by aging to the point where you are physically unfit for the workforce. If you invest in a roth IRA the money grows tax free and is not taxed on withdrawl. Tax rates will probably be like 60% by the time we're 65 anyways.

And a mutual fund would probably own equal amounts of Ford and Tesla. And Tesla is objectively a better company while Ford is a relic from the past, and valuations are based on future earnings not current earnings.

Besides there are also provisions in there for home purchases and other serious situations where you can take out the money penalty free.

Also this should be money that you would just have sitting in a bank account for the next 40 years anyways. If you're 30 you should be able to max out your IRA and still live a comfortable lifestyle and invest in crypto.

That got me started and then I made about $80,000 last year on crypto. I'll probably do three more years of work and then I'll be out for good and focus on hobbies. As long as crypto pays off. If not I have my gold and resume.

No one is trying to attack or mock you, i'm just saying that you should invest in the tried and true before you go off jumping into the crypto river with both feet and no rope. Real financial freedom comes with a steady flow of income, not with speculation.

And if working for someone isn't what you want to do, great, start a business, start and investing firm. Entrepreneurship is resource that is becoming more and more scarce. The point is that you should be responsible for making advancements in the world and not dragging it down.

Disregarding the /pol/ and /x/ levels of antisemitism, you should have to pay the people that managed that money for forty years, its only fair, they worked to grow the fund to the point that even if they take what seems like a large amount, you are still left with 500-600% more money than you put in.

This is still bad but you didn't get my point. The point I made by using the Tesla/Ford example is that the market is overbought. You would know this by my example if you were aware of what professionals were talking about. For instance, look at how many vehicles Tesla produced this year vs Ford.

To an extent. But there's a better chance blockchain investing will double that 3M and much more profitable in the short term and possible long term. It's called trend forecasting. The ability to do it takes a specific mindset. At 3M over a lifetime, only enjoyed when your life is nearing, compared to the potential of a blockchain investment and its measured performance, I will take the latter at this moment. You can't ignore an uncorrelated asset type. What you observe now is not a guaranteed constant.
