I get the impression that BCH is kind of a shitcoin and BTC is the best bitcoin. However I don't really understand enough to know if this is true. Would I be better off just getting BTC or would it be smarter to hedge BTC with an equal coin amount of BCH? The hedge would be in coin amount, not dollar amount, so I would still have a much higher proportion of BTC than BCH. This would help in case BCH flips BTC. But on the other hand if BCH really is a shitcoin then I don't know if I should hold any of it. What should I do /biz/?

I was against BCH quite some time. But after some hard thinking, I reached some simple conclusions.
Gradually growing block size makes much more sense than opening a LN channel with everybody that aldo needs to stay online.
We don't need 1TB block right away and by the time we do, it will be no problem anymore.
Now why BCH over any other altcoin? They have huge political power to actually go big. Pretty much any place/platform that accepts BTC, also accepts BCH.
BCH is the main hope to save the "Bitcoin" brand. Right now pretty much everyone agrees that BTC is a piece of shit just waiting to get flipped.

The problem with bcash is the name. Everyone knows the technology is in BCH's favor. However, nobody who would buy it in the mainstream would buy Bitcoin Cash over just Bitcoin. It sounds like a copy of the original, regardless of its technical qualifications.

It's a great name. Satoshi hesitated between the names Bitcoin and Bitcash when he created Bitcoin. Bitcoin was always meant to be used as cash, that's its very definition, peer-to-peer electronic cash, yet some bad actors have attempted to turn it into something else. Bitcoin Cash reminds people that what it is is cash, not "muh digital gold that you are meant to HODL xD". It is supposed to be peer-to-peer electronic cash, as in a digital currency that can function without banks as intermediaries, without government interventions who can change the supply at will. The ability to send money to potentially anyone almost instantly with very low fees, in a trustless manner, a bank isn't holding your money, you are the sole owner. Think about what that represents, what that entails. Then look at BTC, look at whether it fulfills that promise or whether it plans on fulfilling that promise. Then look at BCH.
