How does one go from a retail manager dealing with subhumans all the way up to those guys who make $250k/year and another $250k in bonuses

>> No.909976

These $250k/year people have at least MBA.

show some initiative and take some risks.

you're virtually in a zero risk zero skill position. you don't deserve reward.

Does good things happen to those who wait? I'm still in the process of getting my BA. How does one typically goe from retail management to corporate management and what goes on after that?

I don't know a single company that sources central corporate talent from franchise. why should they?

you can't get promoted from franchise. they probably don't even know you exist.

figure out what open positions they have and send them a job application.

"franchise"? you mean internally?

also
>implying you can escape dealing with humans

protip: everyone fucking sucks and life is a single organism that thrives from destroying and rebuilding itself. We are parasites by nature and there is no escape.

Papa John's has it as corotate policy. When I left there, my general manager (4-5 stores) was moving up to district manager (4-5 general managers under his watch). He started out as an assistant manager making 7 or 8 bucks an hour back in the '90s.
With bonuses, he probably went from $150k to 250k.
A fucking quarter mil a year to be a pizza boss.

This, I used to work for Michael's Arts & Crafts right after high school.

Store manager was about 30, making around $70k a year, started as a stock boy 15 years ago. Before I left he got a promotion to district manager, pretty much doubled his salary.

I think people are underestimating and/or misusing the term "manager." in my company, a store manager makes anywhere from 70-90k based on store volume, and even assistant managers are making 60-70k.

It is extremely difficult to move up to the manager level because of how few spots there are and how many people are trying.

If you can make it up to district manager (8-10 stores) you are over 100k, and a regional director(6-12) will make 200k or more.

Tl;dr management is hard to get into, but the bank is there.

Meant 6-12 district managers under the RD.

Who's your direct superior? Start dropping hints with him that you'd like to climb up the ladder and hear what he has to say you need to do.
