why 'business informatics' and not a proper maths & statistics degree?

If I were you I'd do something like Maths & statistics, maths and economics, maths and computer science... at undergrad then if you're still interested in finance or 'informatics' etc.. chose a finance or financial engineering or statistics or machine learning masters

you also have to consider that if you don't get into your dream job at X big bank what skills do you have to offer other employers?

Because I already enrolled into an Economy college, It's just that I later pick what degree I want or what direction I want to take. There are other options available as well, marketing, managment and more, it's just that I'm interested in those two and that's my dilemma currently. If I'll take business informatics I'd have to learn programming on the side to have more skills so I'd like to decide early. I'm not from the USA btw.

I asked a CPA professor that exact question and he said that it's because an accountant can more or less do everything a finance goon can but they can't do everything an accounting goon can.

No thats pretty accurate. Accounting deals with almost every aspect of finance but it doesn't really work the other way.

Yeah but accounting fucking sucks. Only autistists are able to go thru accounting classes. There are few autistics who really enjoy that shit and they are really good at it. No normal human being is interestend in such stuff.
