I know /biz/ is basically just /crypto/ now but I was wondering what you guys think about dropshipping businesses becoming more popular. Worth getting into or get rich quick scheme? Asking for a friend

i don't get it. why wouldn't the customer buy direct from the supplier otherwise aren't you just a middleman?

>> No.8977587

Wtf is dropshipping? Is it essentially being a middleman between a customer and a big supplier?

>> No.8977591

>>8977560
yeah basically but the whole business is created around customers being inherently dumb and impulsive

The point here is one, the customer does not know about the existence of sites like Aliexpress or Wish. You buy from them at the price of 2$, create a site all for "your" shop and sell it for 4$.

basically you do the advertising and the promotion for products that exist but people don't necessarily think about buying very often. Most of the sales (from what I can gather) are based around the advertising effectiveness to convert interest into sales on shit people wouldn't normally buy like a nifty toaster that looks like Peter Griffin or some shit

do most people make their own website or just use something like ebay?

>> No.8977632

>>8977621
They create a site from other sites like Shopify

>> No.8977640

>>8977601
yeah exactly. Most people do ads for this shit on FB and IG and make a killing because FB and IG users are inherently retarded and impulsive. And then people who get established reach out the the supplier and get custom stuff made, like a special phone case or something. They'll make a site that only sells this one special phone case, something that existed before but people wouldnt buy because it was just some cheap chinese shit but now that an american has slapped a logo and made an IG about it, its an amazing new invention, Call TIME magazine!

they use Shopify

A lot of these fad products are dropshipped products, like those black face masks or those charcoal teeth whiteners. That shit has been around but they just weren'nt marketed in an effective way

For example, you set up an e-store that sells hats
Then you go on Ali Express and find a supplier that makes the product you want
Then you put those products on your site at a marked up price, lets say 3X
Then you do some marketing and find some people that want that kind of hat
They buy from your site, just like they would from any other
Then you take their money, buy the shit from Ali Express but you put in their info for where its being shipped
You pocket the profit and repeat

>> No.8977736

>>8977392
you need to shill a fuckton to make anything, market is oversaturated

>> No.8977747

>>8977676
because retail has a physical product on hand that someone is selling you
as a dropshipper, you never have the product on hand, you're basically just creating leads and fulfilling orders on products that other people have on hand for a profit

>>8977736
Do you have experience in the space?

>> No.8977791

If anyone has any tips or anything that'd be awesome.
I'm setting some shit up for the summer but I'm not sure if I'm just wasting my time or not

>> No.8977805

>>8977791

The niche is the most important thing man, without that you're just wasting time and money.

>> No.8977974

>>8977805
i beg to differ. i think if you just list as much shit as you can from amazon and aliexpress you'd surely turn a profit. i mean it's not like you could lose money as there's no initial layout

>> No.8978079

>>8977974

I followed some courses and they all said that an important thing is to not put too many idfferent stuff in your shop

>> No.8978102

Just sell on eBay

>> No.8978248

you guys are all ecommerce brainlets and should stay away. its not easy or quick money.

>> No.8978262
