>Let me put this into perspective

FB has 1/5 of Google search queries without even trying. FB even has every detail information regarding the "searcher" and can do a kind of target advertisement that google can't come close to replicate.

It has sensitive information of billions of users world wide. Just think what politicians can do with these kind of information. Hell, if allowed countries like China is probably willing to buy FB outright just to feed its communist propaganda.

Now Facebook even knows what you chat or talk with on mobile, they can throw advertisements at you the minute you have money with exactly the type of thing you wanted to buy.

The problem.. ok. Say you buy it and it goes down or swings wildly and goes down.

You are fucked.

It's not like you can just hold it and wait for it to go back up to the level you bought. Because how percentages work in a leverage. It has to rebalanced every day. it is not a "real short" because your losses are capped. With a pure short you can loose an unlimited amount o money but you get back to where you started easily. In a 3x overeager buy in a stock like way. It goes down 5%. now you need to get back up 5.1% in the index it is tacking to get back your 5% loss. So every time it swings you are sinking further and further. On top of that there is huge fees for management and especially for borrowing that money.

But why would you hold something that is losing? I mean, set a trailing stop, make sure you don't hold it over night on particularly volatile assets. I don't see what the problem is holding something like TNA or UPRO where the underlying generally goes up in a relatively stable manner. I mean, the 3x shorts you'd be an idiot to hold, because the losses compound, but the longs seem like a good idea if the underlying is solid.
