It's a poor investment for the average user on this board. Surely, you cannot argue that crypto isn't risky as far as investments go. The volatility is huge for both bitcoin and alt-coin, please look at the historical prices for any crypto. Also, there is not much clarity when it comes to the factors that drive crypto prices up and down. It is hard to predict market movements. It is just a poor decision to buy crypto if you do not have 3 months of expenses saved up at least. I can't understand why you would buy an investment that has the potential to go from 21k to 6.5k within a couple weeks or less. The problem is people think crypto is a different asset class, which is true, but the best way to wrap your head around it is thinking of crypto as penny stocks. Bitcoin is just like a penny stock that went up, it happens all the time. Yet any investor worth their salt would tell you not to invest substantially or go "all-in" with penny stocks for obvious reasons.
