$1000 link EOY isn't so far fetched at all. Link has a lot of similarities with ripple: it's mostly focused on working with banks and payment systems. at the January peak ripple's marketcap was 150 billion. the total crypto marketcap was 0.8 trillion. so if the partnerships rumored around link are true and we will see some use cases it's safe to say link will be around the same or higher marketcap of link. let's also assume that within a year the whole crypto market will about 3x from it's latest ATH. so we will have an total crypto market of around 3 trillion. so a top 3-5 position will mean around 450 billion marketcap. we also know that 350 million of links supply will be held for penalties and the remaining i'm not sure about what sergey is doing with them but let's asume the current 350 mil supply has increased to around 500-650 mil. so given the 450bil marketcap this means an link price around 700-900$.

Is it "possible" in the literal sense of the word? Yes.

Is it probable? If we have a mega-ultra-godtier bullrun $100 may be in the cards. That's still going to make a lot of anons happy. More probably we'll find ourselves in the $5-10 range. Not bad considering we're only $0.43 at the moment.

if smart contracts were adopted by very big firms
if those firms were all clients of chainlink
if crypto went past 1 trillion
if link was the oracle of the entire crypto space startups.
if link, as middleware, would be able to eat away a lot of the utility tokens.
yeah it would be possible.
probable? nah.

depends how long you want to wait and where you live, cause making it depends widely of that.
worst case scenario, you will x10 until the end of the year.

>> No.8960517

also the rise of ripple was kind of an singularity like event most of you are expecting to happen with link. it was only around 3¢ by april 27 2017 that it slowly gained to around 25¢ by dec 11 2017 at shoot to 3.8$ in just 3 weeks.

>if smart contracts were adopted by very big firms
a lot of big firms are doing research now to achieve this. so this is a yes
>if those firms were all clients of chainlink.
why would you assume this. ripple didn't need an huge amount of big clients to reach 150B. also i would say swift would be more than enough as partner but we would likely see around 5-10 partners announced with atleast 1 billion valuation like salesforce, sap, EY.
>if crypto went past 1 trillion. it almost did in january. and you do realise 1 trillion is still very small. if we went past 20 trillion within 3 years i would be saying ''bubble'' but not at these prices.
>if link was the oracle of the entire crypto space startups. it's main focus now is to function with eth and bitcoin. this covers almost 80 percent of crypto. at lets be real most eth ripoffs won't be around anymore next year.

i won't say the change of hitting $1000 is very high but doable. i will mostly have sold most of my stack if we even went above $100.

>> No.8961294

>>8961064
It won't be $1000 this year but most likely in the near future (2020-2023) if everything goes well. Hopefully sooner than later, 3 years is my guess

>> No.8961387

I don't think most people saying link will be $1000 understand what an API is or understand how cheap data is (and will become with PDS2) and how low the system requirements and thus expenses for running a node are.

The point is to save money. Oraclize charges 1c per call. Think about that, and how much each of 10k nodes would need to do each month to make an ROI that would in any way justify the token going up anywhere near $1000, which is predicated on a lot o link being out of circulation, which is only possible if the tokens aren't absurdly valuable.

>> No.8961429

>>8961387
Oraclize charges 1 cent with no security warranties. The entire point of decentralized oracles is to avoid a single point of failure. Companies providing financial services will be willing to pay more for a better and more secure service

>> No.8961450

>>8961429
And they will, since 1c multiplied times the 100 nodes they choose is $1. It's really doubtful each node is going to get much more than what oraclize charges. Remember node operators set what they are willing to accept and since it's virtually free to run a node or extremely cheap, node operators can set their prices very low.

Witnessed. LINK confirmed $700-1000 EOY

>> No.8961547

>>8961450
I think you're right. But IMO the best scenario would be to run a node from early on expecting that the token price would grow in the future.

It's like mining BTC at $10 and then saying that the ROI is shit and that it's not worth wasting time mining it.

Link doesn't have partners.
Link has customers.

Link gets announced.

Getting into LINK at this point is like loaning startup money to John D. Rockefeller in 1865. 80% of the crypto market will die by chainlink's sword.
