POW won't work in the long term. that's why ethereum will dethrone BTC this year.

Do you know that bitcoin already uses about 1% of us Total energy consumption. And since only 1% of people use bitcoin if it gets wide adoption it will use about 25% of us energy consumption. This is not sustainable

Who cares. Technology evolves, bitcoin's difficulty adjusts. Deal with it.

POW is the one thing we can be 100% sure that works. Everything else is an experiment.

BTC is slower to evolve, it's a pro and a con but stupid people always see things from one perspective. Buy them both, idiots

What happens when Tron, EOS, etc burn their Ethers? Bitcoin is back to king for a little bit. Unless Ethereum speeds the process up. Sharding, raiden, POS I've known about these things for almost a year

ETH is still an alt.
Alts crash harder than BTC when BTC crashes, are you new?
Also, this hype market run in December was largely due to shit ERC20 tokens, they're dying so their big daddy ETH will die too.
Finally, ICOs are mostly paid in ETH, these projects are holding onto millions of ETH which they will dump on the market slowly and suppress the price.

PoS is very hard to implement. There are many attack vectors for any PoS system. Ethereum is hopeful that their compromises make a decentralised PoS system viable, but they are a long way from perfect.

>> No.8902361

It's hilarious to see all the clueless people defending PoW in this thread. The amount of effort you put into acquiring digital coins is completely irrelevant in the economic sense, no buyer gives a fuck about that. The only important thing is protection against sybil attacks, which can be done through faster, more energy-efficient means like PoS.

anyone selling you an alt coin for BTC only wants more BTC
when you figure that out you can win

>> No.8902426

>>8902378
That's a huge oversimplification and doesn't truly tell you anything useful

>> No.8902536

It's one aspect of the relationship, just like you focused on one pro for POS. The truth is more complicated than you appreciate.

Practically every single economic transaction has two participants who both believe they're getting the better end of the deal. Naturally in your case the guy selling alts wants more BTC. But for some reason you're focusing on him, instead of the other side of the transaction, where the guy evidently wants more alts.

>> No.8903033

>>8902628
the guy selling the alts got in them earlier and wants to sell them to a sucker
connect the dots
